It pays to interact with your customers
Facebook provides several excellent opportunities for growing businesses. Research shows that Facebook has around 31 million users in the UK. It provides the chance for your company to buy up advertising space and to build a company page detailing your services. Customers can then follow your company page and any new products you release or news you reveal will be transmitted to all your followers when they open Facebook.
This means you can build a long-term customer base – but also it enables you to research the demographics of your present customers and market-groups for you to work on for the future. You can use your news items or product information to seek feedback from your followers as well to encourage interactivity and ensure your customers feel valued.
Twitter is a newer platform but is growing rapidly – at the end of 2013 it was revealed that 15 million people were using the platform. Its potential for businesses is a little different from Facebook, although building a specific company page and keeping followers updated on your services is one possible use of Twitter. However, using Twitter to seek re-tweets from your followers, local newspapers, or even your favourite celebrities will enable your company name to be promoted beyond your immediate followers and network and across the Twittersphere.
Creating a business profile on Google Plus is another important avenue to consider. The listing will need to contain details of your company name, address and map location, and services offered. You can also include ratings from past customers and links to your main website. Getting a Google Plus profile is an important step for increasing your position with search engines and ensuring your web visibility is maximised.
LinkedIn is a little different, but promoting your business through the features on its website can be just as rewarding. LinkedIn is a forum for building professional networks. It carries the profiles of over 10 million individuals in the UK listing their past roles and professional experiences, as well as company profiles promoting their services, and operates as a job-board carrying current opportunities.
There are groups that can be joined specifically for your industry to exchange advice and ideas. Getting your company listed on LinkedIn will enable you to promote your brand amongst fellow professionals, as well as enabling you to search for specialist staff, and use for recruitment purposes as your company grows and requires new talent.
